Volunteer Weeks CIT 2024

All families

We are excited to announce that next Monday 25th November and until the 9th December, the ‘CIT 2024 Volunteer Campaign’ will start. An initiative organised and run by Familylab in collaboration with our Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada students.. This year, more than ever, we feel a great motivation to come together and help those who need it most, especially after the devastating consequences of the recent storms in various areas.

It is really important that our children ‘live’ the values of our school community, as well as being supportive of others and teamwork. Therefore, we ask for your maximum involvement, every small gesture counts and together we can make a difference. Even though the campaign officially starts on the 25th we are already accepting donations.

To this end, we would like to inform you of the Actions of the ‘CIT 2024 Volunteer Campaign’ (from Monday 25th November to Monday 9th December):

1- Bancosol – Non-perishable food: especially milk, oil, canned fish, canned legumes, canned precooked dishes (such as “la carretilla”). Students and families will be able to take part in Bancosol’s “Food bank” campaign at the Veracruz “ Mercadona ” in Benalmádena on the 22nd /and 23rd of November. During the collection in the supermarkets the students will encourage customers to buy food and deposit it in containers destined for Bancosol. It is a good cause and a unique learning experience. To organise it well, volunteers need to sign up at specific times: students to collect food and parents to supervise. As last year, some MYP and DP students will be in the supermarkets on Friday morning accompanied by CIT staff, as part of the Volunteering Programme. We also need volunteer families to join this initiative on Friday afternoon and Saturday. You can book a time by filling in the following form, click HERE.
2- Madre Coraje – Collection of used toys and clothes: all types of used toys in good condition (except war toys), children’s books, clothes for adults and children.
3- Neighbours of Benalmádena “El vuelo de las libélulas”: baby products (powdered milk, nappies, wipes, etc) and also non-perishable food (canned legumes, oil, milk, biscuits, canned fish, fried tomato, etc).
4- Association ‘Corazones Malagueños’ urgently needs help for the homeless in Malaga and their families. To help them we need cold meats, sugar, instant coffee, instant chocolate, Christmas sweets.

Presentation + Storytelling of Miss Cynthia and Miss Sophie’s book ‘Don’t get in a sweat’

All families

At CIT we are excited to announce a very special event: on 22nd of November, at 16:15, Miss Cynthia (White Class) and Miss Sophie (Green Class) will present their new children’s book in our co-working space.

After the presentation, we will enjoy a storytelling based on the story, followed by a craft activity for the little ones. This book, aimed at young children, deals creatively and sensitively with the emotions that arise at the start of school, helping our children to understand and express what they feel at this important stage of their lives, while developing their English language skills.

The presentation will be a unique opportunity to get to know the creative process of the authors and our dear teachers, to hear more about the message of the book and to share this special moment with the whole educational community, we are waiting for you!

Holiday World Run

All families

We would like to invite you to participate in the 9th Holiday World Race which will take place on Sunday 24th November 2024 at 10am, starting at the ‘elephants’ roundabout, Benalmádena.

The race will have three different distances: 21 km (half marathon); 10km; and 5 km – designed for running or walking and for children (everyone can participate in this event!. Due to last year’s success, we would like CIT to register as a group again so that we can all take part in some physical activity outdoors and share time together along with our children whilst – at the same time – helping a local association. We believe that this is a fantastic opportunity for all to form part of our ‘CIT Runners Club’, with the aim of creating experiences and activities as a family as well as preparing together for different sporting and social events. From the school and physical education classes, we will also give special training and preparation to the students and encourage them to participate on the 24th of November. Including our 3 week 5k training plan.
It is a charity race that will donate all funds to the C.E.S.M.A – Proyecto Hombre Foundation, where our High School students will also participate as volunteers as part of their IB DP CAS social action project. We believe it is an opportunity to create family volunteering by supporting local initiatives that have a great impact on our society.

To sign up all you need to do is click on this link and sign up through ‘Dorsal Chip’. It’s important that in section 4, you write in Club: “CIT Runners Club”.

For those of you who are already members of our ‘CIT Runners Club’, please wear the T-shirt you have from previous year’s ; failing that, the students can wear their PE kit and parents a white t-shirt, so that we all feel part of the CIT community.
After the race, there will be entertainment and paella for the whole family – provided by the organisers.Don’t miss out on this fun plan for the whole family!

Tip / Curiosity of the week

Coco Musical

All families

At CIT, the creativity of our students never ceases to amaze us, and this time they have brought to life a magical play with the musical Coco. Under the direction of Miss Amy and with the participation of Primary students.

This project not only stood out for its talent, but also for the teamwork and passion that each one of them put into the scene. The musical had the special collaboration of year 6 students, including Noa, Gala, Valentina, Charlize and Violeta, who together with the rest of the younger Art and Drawing extracurricular students (some as young as 5 years old!) were in charge of the sets and visual details that made this production a memorable one.

We are proud to share some images of this colourful process and hope it inspires our whole community to continue creating unique moments. Congratulations to all who made it possible!
